Quite possibly .....

the worst sequel I've ever seen in my life.

I loved it. I don't know why I waited so long to see it. "It's not 1986" good stuff

reply

I liked it too. The criticism seems way out of hands. Some movies get that for some reason.

I liked it. And surely Jaws 4 is thee worst sequel ever made. Ever.

Definitely not anywhere near the original, but certainly better than Die Hard 2. If the critical response was anywhere near as good as Die Hard 4, this movie would be getting a far more positive response from fans. It's so unbelievably underrated. Worst sequel ever? Seriously? I don't even consider this the worst Die Hard sequel. Die Hard 2, while I still enjoy it, is just a half-baked remake of the first with some seriously crappy lines. However you feel about it, at least Die Hard 5 tried something different and did everything it could NOT to tread the same ground. "What is this, a tag team?" John trying to get out of the parachute, "Where's the door?" His one-liners in Die Hard 2 sucked. I'll take, "There's a two year contract on that phone," and, "Hey Watergate, how's that lock coming?," any day of the week.

That's absurd. DH 5 can never be better than part 2. Die Harder, while not as strong as Die Hard or Vengeance, is still leagues above this film and especially LFODH. Die Harder deserves its place alongside 1 and 3 and makes up the proper Die Hard films known as the Die Hard trilogy. Bruce had the time of his life making part 2 and it shows. This was when Bruce was a cool actor full of energy and charm, not the grumpy old mad-at-the-world bore he's become today. In 4 and 5 Willis looks like he doesn't even want to be there. I've argued many times that this film gets blamed for ruining the series, but LFODH always seems to get away clean when it was really the film that did the real damage.

As far as I'm concerned it is better than Die Hard 2. That's my opinion, and you are certainly allowed yours. I do find it interesting that you said Bruce had the time of his life making the second film. Is this something he's said? From everything I've read he seemed to really dislike making the second movie. He absolutely hated all the self-reference. I can't cite the interview, but I remember there being one where said the second was the worst of them all and regretted doing it.

reply

There are several interviews of Willis while he was making Die Harder in which he speaks positively about the filming. He also talks highly of the films while making Vengeance. That interview is up on YouTube somewhere. 4 and 5 were made at the time when Willis was older and grumpier and just a shadow of his former self. I mean what's up with all those dtv movies he's making lately? The man has become greedy and lazy and helped to ruin this series. Die Hard should've been left alone after 95.
