Which is your favourite Die Hard?

Which out of the 5 is your favourite? This question is ideally for those die hard fans who have seen each movie several times (well maybe not 5 as I haven't found anyone yet who loved it) and appreciate the amazingness of the franchise.

No hate please everyone is entitled to their own opinion :)

Die hard 3 is my favourite and one of my all time favourite movies (10/10)

Followed closely by the original and Die hard 4 (8.5/10)

And I would probably rate 2 (7/10) & 5 (6/10) because in my opinion neither were as amazing as the others but they weren't horrible either and I did enjoy watching them.

With a vengeance 10/10
Just hard (10/10)
4.0 (8/10)
Die Harder (7/10)
AGDTDH (7/10)

I saw the third one in theatres (cinema) in the summer of '95 and enjoyed it immensely and every time I've watched it since I always hugely enjoy the film.

The first one is a classic masterpiece with a genuinely career best performance (arguably his entire career is career best) from Alan Rickman.

The fourth film has a wonderful performance from Timothy Olyphant as the baddie but also Maggie Q as his Kung fu kicking lieutenant. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is always lovely and watchable. Even Justin Long is not bad here.

I do like Die Harder. It's severely lacking in any kind of real evil bad guy a la 1 and 3 but the explosions are impressive. There's at least two OTT violent scenes here with copious blood letting. Dennis Franz is impressively foul mouthed here.

Finally the fifth is not without its good points. However the bad outweighs the good. But the presence of Jai Courtney and Cole Hauser more than compensates. Plus the explosions / action is on the money.

Truly great franchise.

I feel like die hard 3 was just ahead of its time and easily the best action movie of the 90's if not ever because it had more than just explosions but a great well thought out storyline. It was also the first die hard I watched as I was only born in 88 and didn't see it till I was 10 maybe but I've watched it over and over since then and still enjoy it.

I do agree the bad guys in 1 & 4 gave great performances and that is probably what was lacking from 2.

Not sure if your a fan of 24, but I can just imagine if they made a 24 movie it should be something similar to die hard :)

Never thought I'd come across another person who agrees with me that Die Hard 5 is still better than Die Hard 2.

My favorite is easily the first. Must have seen it well over 20 times since watching it for the first time when I was 12 or so.

1 is the best. A perfect film.

3 is the best sequel and a great movie in its own right, it's just the finale that kinda stinks. That's my only complaint and you can blame the studio for that. The last real die hard film.

2 is just damn fun.

4 is almost a good movie but severely hurt by the pg13 limitations, boring villain, obscene color grading, Kevin smith. Jet sequence. It's not a real die hard film. But despite all that crap, it's still fun and adaquetly entertaining. Very watchable, just not die hard.

5 is....woof. It's god awful. About to watch the extended cut right now to see if something, anything is redeemable here. Then when I find that there is none I will watch the deleted scenes. It makes part 4 look like a real die hard film.

I will make two lists. The first will rank my favorite movies in terms of viewing pleasure. The second will rank how well made I think they are.

1 - Live Free or Die Hard
2 - Die Hard: With a Vengeance
3 - Die Hard
4 - Die Hard 2
5 - A Good Day to Die Hard

1 and 3 pretty much equally great, but I also like Die Hard 3 slightly more. The story is cool, the casting is brilliant, Jeremy Irons is just awesome.
