The Criterion

So I recorded the DA marathon that PBS aired over Thanksgiving. I'd watched the series in its entirety when it originally aired, I just enjoy watching things a few times. :)

Anyway, in Season 4 (I believe) Lady Edith meets Michael Gregson for dinner at The Criterion. She says:'I just love the Criterion' meanwhile the camera pans out and you see this incredible dining room - so luxuriously beautiful - as she walks through the entire length of the room.

Now, as I said, I'd seen the series before but this scene made me sit up and rewind. I had to watch it all again.

And then it hit me, I'd been there!! I went to Google maps to look it up, and sure enough! I was just there last month! I had no idea I was at the Criterion! It's called 'Savini' now but above the door, the large overhang still reads 'Criterion' It's in Picadilly Circus. It absolutely stunning. We only stopped in for a cocktail and a nibble because we were taken aback by the beauty of the room from the sidewalk. We just had to go in.

Anyway, it's dorky I know but I was so excited when I'd realized I'd sat and dined in the same place as a Crawley! Lol!! #ImADork
