Did all those legends really converge on 1920s Paris?

Did all those legends really converge on Paris around nearly the same time? I really doubt that. Can somebody tell me any truth about that?

In the 1920's, Paris was the place to go for young American creative types. All of these people were there at the time and crossed paths often. Also the Spaniards like Picasso and Dali visited there often - Paris was the place to be.

Why make a ridiculous statement like, "I really doubt that" before doing even some cursory research? It's called Google.
