Luis Bunuel and Man Ray's response to Gil's dilemma
In the scene with Salvatore Dali Gil talks of his dilemma about the two loves of his current and alternative time line. Ray thinks out loud, "A man falls in love with a woman from a different era." He replies "I see a photograph" and Bunuel states "I see a film". Does anyone know if these responses refers to an actual work of these two people involving a man loving a woman from another time or does it simply refer to the fact that they are each famous for their respective arts - photography and filmmaking? I usually try to research this on my own but perhaps one of your out there know their works well.
