Best things about Midnight in Paris (2011)

1. Paris

2. Bringing to life with some personality a few geniuses from the past. (though I have no idea what the "rhinoceros" reference was about)

3. Skewering a few of my least favorite Americans;
Rich, overbearing, right-wing nutjobs & their ignorantly over-privileged wives. (I would have been happy with a skewering of rich, overbearing, left-wing nutjobs too)
Pedantic pukes who love to treat trivia as nourishment & fulfillment.

4. Paris, n'est-ce-pas?

5. Some good old-fashioned Woody humor (see the favorite lines thread).

6. Not based on a comic-book nor a teen trilogy.

7. Paris, certainement!

Et tu?

8. Gil Pender. While Allenesque, is portrayed through an "Owen Wilson filter", so he's more of an "Aw, shucks" laid-back character, which would not have been the case if Gil had been played by Woody Allen.

Better than woody in his std neurotic state probably would have

I'm glad that Woody Allen didn't play Gill. I love Allen's directing, but hate his acting. I'm not saying he's a bad actor, I just don't like his acting at all.

1. Ernest Hemingway

2. Ernest Hemingway

3. Shooting charging lions and boxing.

4. Rhinos-ceros

P.S. to OP: I think the "rhinoceros" thing was just to emphasize how bizarre and eccentric Dali was. I'm not surprised if he painted something like that. That's exactly how I would picture Dali in the '20s. I was laughing my ass off.

Hemingway being played as a cross between John Wayne and Teddy Roosevelt. ;O)

Marlon, Claudia and Dimby the cats 1989-2005, 2007 and 2010.

reply

Add the soundtrack to that. It's beautiful.
