The Versailles Incident

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but here it goes:

When the scene came where we find out what happened to the poor detective hired to figure out what Owen's character's been doing at night, I laughed two-fold at this joke. Not only was it funny, but seems to be Woody's riff (or reference) of a reportedly true "time-warp" incident that happened around 1901 where two English ladies who were strolling through the Petit Trianon at Versailles claimed to have come across people from the Marie Antoinette era. A book titled THE GHOSTS OF TRIANON (written by them, Charlotte Anne Moberly & Eleanor Jourdain) and a movie (MISS MORISON'S GHOSTS starring Hannah Gordon & Wendy Hiller) were made about this case.

Without over-analyzing too much, I loved Allen's film. It was funny, beautiful, entertaining & very charming.

A tout alors,

It is a very funny scene. I had not thought of it being related to the moberley and Jourdain adventure, that is an interesting idea.
