Frank and the German Family
Didn't have any subtitles in the version I saw, what was the conversation between Frank and the German family?

shareThe family interrupted the conversation with asking what Frank and his band are doing in their holiday flat and what they are talking about. Frank answered in exceptional German (as Fassbender did before in Inglorious Basterds) that they are deeply sorry and asked if the family wants to step outside for a walk with him, that's all. Everything else what he could say to them so they would leave is up to our imagination.
shareI don't know why he says he struggles with his German. To a language book schooled person like me he sounds very authentic.
shareAgree with that--sounded great, and I have the same background, studied German in high school for 4 years, but there is no way I could speak that easily.
shareI don't think he struggles with pronunciation. It's a matter of how often he speaks the language in an everyday setting. From what I gather, the most practice he's had in his adult life is from movie scripts (where he's had the chance to rehearse the lines over and over again). He has said he understands the language well enough but his speaking skill is rusty. If he hung around German-speaking people more often, he'll no doubt improve in that area quickly.
shareThis thread title sounds like a band name.
