So Why Are Many Critics Lying? (SPOILER!!!)

Watched the film last night and LOVED it. Read quite a few reviews of the film before watching it and many of them mentioned how Fassbender was so dedicated to the role that the mask/head never comes off in the whole film.

Well this is clearly a lie since in the last 10-15mins of the film the head DOES indeed come off and you get to see Fassbender's face.

So what's with the lies?

A desire to avoid spioilers?

When darkness overcomes the heart, Lil' Slugger appears...

All you have to do to avoid spoilers is to not mention it. There's no need to bring it up. Why lie?

reply

Not much of a "spoiler" really is it...taking off a mask when everyone knows who is under it?

Plus all they have to do in reviews is just NOT mention either way and not outright lie about it.

And so, God came forth and proclaimed widescreen is the best.

Maybe they meant he never took off the mask during filming, not during the timeline of the movie. That would surely tie in more with the 'dedicated to the role' idea. Fassbender is supposed to be quite the method actor.

Maybe they never saw the film, but just looked at earlier reviews. The very first one has some explaining to do!

I can't be bothered with a signature

If you want to get technical, he doesn't ever take it off. It comes off in an accident and breaks beyond repair.

PS: Great Movie

Thing was before the movie even came out I saw a interview with Fassbender saying he does take off the head once in the film but had preferred to kept in on throughout and was the original intent but then the film makers who decided they wanted to show that Fassbender was in the movie so the the scene was written in where he took off the head. So I went into the movie knowing there was one part at some point he would remove the head just didn't know when.
