How does Fassbender sees through the mask?


I guess there aren't any other holes than his mouthpiece, but geometrically speaking it looks like it's on his nose or below..

He could only see though the holes on each side of the head.

The eye holes was how he saw. A special feature on the DVD/Blu Ray Fassbender stated he had to look through a eye hole depending on the direction he was looking it limited his vision.
