all have histories of mental illness? Did they meet in the same psychiatric ward? They all seem to be mentally unstable or even disturbed, on top of being talented of course.

What a film, so powerful and enigmatic. I had to watch the introductory scene of Frank's entrance in the "in the soup" gig at least 10 times before I resumed viewing. That scene alone is out of this world.

Baraque and Nana didn't seem like they came from a mental place. But then again who knows they didn't talk much or have much of a backstory.

Nah, just Don and Frank. Jon's whole reasoning behind his own lack of talent was because he thought in order to be creative that you had to gave some illness, trauma, depression, etc...
