Not even God can forgive this dog of a movie ...
Unwatchable. Absolutely terrible.
shareYeah... director Nicolas Winding Refn got a bit far up his own ass with this movie...
shareI give this 10/10 as it’s an excellent picture!
shareWhy? At least defend your lunacy! ;-)
shareIt’s a perfect 10 based on the directing, acting, elaborate sets, story, the symbolism, the location and the OST! It’s also CGI free.
However I see it’s not for everyone! The foreign director is a bit out of the box.
The guy, Ryan Gosling, cutting up his dead mother, real artistic.
The long, like 3 to 4 times long dramatic pauses, the sick assassination
of the mother in front of the little girl. Maybe this movie is good
determinant for psychopathy.
I have to agree.
After Drive (which instantly became one of my all-time favorites) I went in almost determined to like it... and was still left disappointed.
It's a beautiful film, visually speaking, but the script/story simply isn't there.
To elaborate a bit... Drive was brilliant because of the way it blended art house sensibilities and aesthetics to a fairly straightforward, pulpy crime drama plot. With this one, though, Refn clearly overestimated the hell out of his writing chops, and the result is basically a non-story that hits you over the head with its Oedipal/Freudian "symbolism" with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer.
I agree. Drive is a fantastic movie. The workprint is even better than the theatrical released version. I gave that 10/10 as well. Copenhagen Cowboy was good but a step down from God & Drive artistically speaking.
