Wow! Really!!!

So, this is one of the only films I have switched off before even getting halfway through.

In my opinion, NWR just got this horribly wrong. I dont have a problem with slow films, but this was too slow, in the sense that there was nothing keeping me interested to see what was going to happen.

I think his imagery was off as well as the metaphors he was trying to convey. I just think NWR tried to be too 'arty' and too cool. He got the right mix in Drive which I honestly think was a great film but it just didnt seem to gel in this one.

On another note, he may be a heart throb to the ladies (which I dont see) and have some good performances behind him (notably Drive when he also played a fairly quiet unassumiing role) but I dont think Ryan Gosling is a good enough actor to pull of a near silent role!

I thought Gosling was perfect in this film. He does the quiet, moody bit better than anyone. I mean, can you imagine Brad Pitt pulling this off? What a joke..

I recall hearing how divisive this film was when it first premiered at Cannes. Then I see it is just as polarizing on the board. I find that so fascinating that it could be so radically interpreted, enjoyed, and loathed by the population. But that is the power of film, no?

I on the other hand, did not find it boring at all! I was thoroughly engrossed in the film.

While others say it was tedious and dull. I read that and feel the exact opposite! I did not want it to end. At the running time of 90 minutes or so, it just flew by for me! But that is just me!
