Don't let anybody say if you don't 'get' this movie you're stupid

You're not meant to 'get' this film. You're meant to feel it. There is no 'explanation' to this movie. And if you thought it was pretentious garbage then that doesn't mean you're dumb.

I agree, Refn is much more interested in the experience of it, that what's makes him a director to follow

He used really good techniques to make you feel, but he kept repeating himself throughout the movie. I didn't feel like I was watching anything new or interested in the second half of the film.
