Bob's Life and Personality

Bob Saginowski has been the object of many posters' fascinating as is evident on this board.

My fascination comes from his personality. He's not like the rest of the characters. He has this serene confidence about him that nobody picks up on, not even his enemies like Eric Deeds. He's a haunted character because of his dark past and he almost punishes himself for that one mistake he made 10 years prior.

My wonder is about his past, his upbringing. I realize that he's a fictional character and has only the limited background bio the writers gave us.

But suppose for arguments sake given his character traits he did have a more clear background info.

What do you guys think it would look like?

Was it Cousin Marv's cowardly use of Bob to clean up his mess that drove Bob to be withdrawn and socially awkward?

Or was Bob the quiet shy kid who was just ahead of the curve and nobody could see it?

Cousin Marv had Bob kill Richie "Glory Days" Wheelan, and yet he's alarmed at the grotesque spectacle of Bob wrapping up the robbers' arm in plastic....telling him he looks like he's done that a thousand times.

But Bob until the killing of Eric Deeds at that point has only one kill under his belt. Why does it seem to Cousin Marv that Bob has done it a thousand times? Has Bob killed others too? Or is Cousin Marv not the kind of guy with a strong stomach? And it seems to him that Bob is way too calm about it? Cousin Marv certainly isn't above murder himself as he runs over with his car the second hired robber, albeit he does not dispose of the body. He just leaves him dead in the street. Although he did have plans to dispose of Deed's body, lining his trunk with plastic.

Bob's upbringing fascinates me for some reason. His old fashioned house, pictures of his deceased parents(no doubt they left the house to him), his frugal lifestyle and his monotonous routine.

I wonder what type of person he was before he was made to kill Richie Wheelan? Was he always this cool as a cucumber guy? Cousin Marv did have his crew back in the day, and Bob was part of it, until the more aggressive Chechens showed up.

Anyway....your thoughts fellow posters!

I'd think he probably always had that kind of quiet personality, but probably became even more withdrawn and empty after he killed Richie and completely resigned himself to his monotonous loner lifestyle because he doesn't think he deserves anything else.
