In one episode McGarret throws a suspect into a shark cage. He tells Danny the sharks are harmless. The sharks in question are Galapigos sharks which are dangerous. They are aggressive towards divers as well. With Steve being a former Navy seal you would think he would have known that.

The same Navy Seals who got LOST in the desert competing in an ECO-challenge?

They’re human.

They’re allowed moments of “duhhhhh...”.

The key there being he tells Danny, as in he probably knew they were dangerous and told Danny they weren't, to me that was just another McGarretism.
