Yes, it certainly can be considered as such.
Also there is a movie called, " The Quiet Earth" (1985, set in New Zealand) which has a similar plot.
Not sure that makes any sense seeing as this is based off the original book?
shareHaving read the original book, the introduction of Caleb does change the narrative content quite a deal (for the better IMO, I should add). I think the OP is suggesting that the film adaption is similar to the film he mentioned.🐭
