Daniel Radcliffe's accent

There is no way a young solicitor in that period would have spoken in such a modern English accent. Maybe this is lost on American audiences but I felt very strongly that his everyday accent was simply not in existence in what I presume is the Edwardian period the story is set in. I found this very distracting, in addition to the fact I don't see what all the rage about him is anyway as an actor, he just seems average to me. The other chap in the film, the one with a car, he had far more presence and was more convincing in his role than Mr Radcliffe.

You're right. Also, the ages of people around him (most would not have lived past 45 in that era).

reply

People in that era lived just as long as they do now. The AVERAGE age was lower due to high mortality rates. My great-grandparents, who were born in the late eighteen hundreds, lived into the nineties.
