When is this set?
I was told late 19th century but cars weren't around then.

shareThw coloured postcards with car on them, the use of the word "car" instead of "automobile", the assumption that a remote village would have a telephone, the indoor watertap, the typing on the death certificate (Nathan's), the electric lights in an abandoned house, the car that took him from the station (it even had headlights), the lack of hats and gloves.. All this points to 1920-30.
However, the clothes (with the exception of the coachman's rain coat and all of Mr Dailey's clothes) and manners were late 19'th century.
The son's excellent handwriting and drawings (he is four years old) was somewhat too good to be true...
....Cue every parent whose children were excellent artists at age two.
