Audience Reaction to Film: Two women (not seated together) laughed aloud throughout. Another woman asked her husband questions throughout the film (that would have been answered by the film had she just waited), while the husband made comments about the obvious.
Saw it today at 2:05. 7 people in the theater.
Trailers:
The Martian
Concussion
99 Homes

Our Brand Is Crisis

Trumbo
No reaction from the audience. I thought it was gripping and very interesting, especially since the multi-dimensionality of Bobby Fischer as a character was explored in great detail. However, the pacing of the film was pretty bad which is the only thing that stops it from being a great film. Despite that, though, it was overall a good and worthwhile film, just not a great one. 7/10
Last Sunday at 7 pm, I was literally the only one there. Pretty surprising for an opening weekend. I guess the general public doesn't have much interest in chess, but as a chess player myself I felt an obligation to see this movie. I had some doubts as to the accuracy of Fischer's portrayal in this movie. I thought there was too much focus on his mental problems and not enough focus on his chess game.
shareI saw it last night at 9:30pm, two other people in the theatre. I forget the trailers and didn't really hear the audience..
share1:30pm at the Laemmle Noho 7.
Approximately 6 people in the theater (maybe holds 75-100 for that particular screen).
Trailers included Steve Jobs, Burnt, and Trumbo.
No noticeable reaction from the audience. Spoke with one older gentleman afterwards and we talked about how we had enjoyed the film and that we both used to play chess competitively.
It can only be attributable to human error.
I went Monday @ 6 pm.
Trailers were:
Peace Officer
Autism in Love
Steve Jobs
There were maybe 10 people in the theater. They laughed at funny scenes but that was the only reaction.
