White Rabbit ... again ???

Every time there is a movie about someone losing it they play this song in the background ... I liked the movie and wish it had covered more of Fischer's games etc but when this song played for someone who was so detached from popular culture (they even said in the movie that Fischer probably missed the landing in the moon and The Beatles! ... or something to that effect) I thought it was a stretch and somewhat cliche.

It maybe cliche for a lot of people portraying madness, but the lyrics of Whote Rabbit are way too apt for Bobby Fischer. Especially with Knights and Queens being mentioned. I'm glad they used it.

Agreed. While the song is about being stoned, Fischer was living in a distorted reality, and like woppingraj stated, some phrases fit well ("men on the chessboard" ... "white knight" ... "... queen"), even if they were based on Alice in Wonderland.

Last time I heard it was in American Hustle, sung in another language.

I don't have a problem with it being there in principle--as others have pointed out, it has Chess-related lyrics, for crying out loud--I thought the implementation was a little odd. In the last scene of the montage, they ask Bobby to "turn the music down", with their voices really loud, implying loud music is playing. Then the song ends, and they start speaking in normal voices again. But Bobby never "turned the music down" in the actual film.
