...the safe-opening scene with Danza Kuduro playing in the background was enjoyable.

How is this movie over the top? I do think the previous one, F9 was over the top

Not sure I follow, but this one, (Fast Five) I don't feel is that OTT. The Pontiac Fiero in space though? Yep

I still enjoy FF1, FF4 and Fast Five.

They stole a safe in this one. What was so over the top about it? Everything was shown quite clearly how it was possible

Not disagreeing at all about this plotline - it was the ones that followed that seemed to turn them from street racers to Bond-level secret agents... which is fine. I still enjoy the shit out of these movies, and, I love how they stole the safe in this one. The Chargers were rather badass.
