Frank's detail/bodyguard

Anyone know who Frank's shadow is? He's a guy with white/silver/grey hair. Often seen in the background, but never (or almost never?) heard. I don't know the character's name, and I don't know the actor's name. I don't see him under 'full cast' either.

(I do see a person listed as Detective Nuciforo, with no picture on imdb. Apparently he's a real detective and also serves as the show's police technical advisor. So all those complainers who think this show does a sloppy job on police procedures now know who they can complain to.  )

Also, I know this isn't gospel (or canon, as the purists would say), but the Blue BLoods wikia (which is NOT the same as Wikipedia) lists Frank's age as 58. And yes, when I read that I practically fell over laughing. 

You're right...James Nuciforo is his name. ;-)

Thought Frank was in his early 60s, old enough to be in Vietnam?

reply

Yes, that's him!! I thought he might be the one who played the detail guy (since he's the only one on imdb I couldn't rule out by his picture), but I wasn't sure. And since he's already on set most days as the NYPD advisor, I guess it's natural for him to appear on camera at times, as Frank's 'guy.' Thanks, that video is interesting. As a 'real cop' who knows procedure, he's the kind of person I need to talk to. 

He had a line or two in the episode where Frank was dropping in on precincts and cops on patrol to check up on them. It was the episode where the sergeant was at home with his dying wife instead of at the precinct. Nuciforo said his cousin owned the cop bar that Frank goes to at the end of the episode.

reply

You're right, he did have a line (lines?) in that ep. Maybe another one, as well, I don't recall.

reply

Thanks for asking, and getting the answer to, something I'd always wondered. I'll need to pay closer attention to the episode where he talks about the bar. He's another good looking man on Blue Bloods, too! ?

reply

That was supposed to be a winky face, not a question mark, he ha!

reply

Yes, handsome for sure...lots of splendid looking men on this show! ;-)

Nuci was on the CBS repeat tonight, and HE SPOKE:

"Excuse me, Boss, we've got an emergency situation at St. Angelis."

Way to go, Nuci! ;-)

PS I thought I'd give him a cool nickname.

Thanks for providing the name of Frank's bodyguard and telling of his technical advisor job.

Would you happen to know: Does James Nuciforo pronounce his surname in the Italian way, Nu-CHI-fo-ro, or the British way, NuSEEforo?

Cheers,

Watch the video linked in the first reply, above. According to that, his name is pronounced Nu-Si-FOR-o.

FYI, as of the beginning of season 5, Mr. Nuciforo also has a credit as Associate Producer on the show. Sweet deal for him, with this show being in syndication, not to mention DVD sales.
