Other visually mesmerizing films?

I was reading some posts on "The Sacrifice" board and saw a thread about "most beautiful" films. Many were listed, from Kurosawa to Antonioni to Kubrick. I added a few, more modern, films to the list. I was curious to see what people here would add.

A few off the top of my head:

Mother and Son -Sokurov (it's worth it, have patients)

Drive -Refn (very modern but crafted well)

Blue Ridge -Sweeney (nice indie effort)

Tree of Life -Malick (duh)

Waterland -Gyllenhaal (Go find this now!)

Last Picture Show -Bogdanovich

The Doors -Stone (Ok shoot me but it is fun to look at)

Babel- Iñárritu (worth it for the Japan pieces alone)

Orlando -Potter

Anything by Sokurov is visually stunning, even his documentary features.

Every Malick film, obviously.

These come to mind immediately as well:

Paris, Texas - Wenders
Mulholland Dr. - Lynch
Before Sunrise - Linklater
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Gondry
The Fountain - Aronofsky
There Will Be Blood - P.T. Anderson
The Mirror - Tarkovsky
Maborosi - Koreeda

Anything by Gaspar Noe

Can't agree on Gaspar. Too into his own little world to appeal enough. I get the feeling he's almost trying to keep only the few fans he has interested without growing in the slightest.

Enter the void is VERY mesmerising to watch :P - his films are difficult to watch and disturbing, but the visuals are stunning :)

I suppose he is one of those directors that makes what he wants and doesn't care to much about the audience, I mean he cares for fans but he doesnt care about pleasing everyone lol

Enter the Void is literally one of the most visually mesmerizing films ever made. How you could disagree with it being mentioned in this thread is beyond comprehension.

Can't believe no ones mentioned "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford", one of the most mesmerising and beautiful films I've ever seen.

O Brother, Where Art Thou? is criminally underrated because it's a comedy with goofy characters.

Sorry but Void pretty much appeals to people in their early 20's/late teens who haven't seen much else yet. It's a true bore and beyond pretentious... as much as I hate to use that word.

I'm going to add one here that I know will get a "hmm?" or two but take a look at it again: Runaway Train.
