Why in the world

Would hey give this film a wide theatrical release when it was set for direct to DVD. The animation looks like they have to rush and not very good whatsoever. It looks like a direct release, keep it that way. In a world where Pixar created two breathtakingly beautiful films last year, why even try to create a movie with fart jokes and bad animation.

Inside Out was my number one favorite film of last year, I definitely agree that it's a breathtakingly beautiful film. But The Good Dinosaur was kind of a mixed bag for me. TGD has some of the most subtle and artistic dramatic scenes of any Pixar movie, but I also think it has some really awkward scenes with characters that are stereotyped and shockingly cringe inducing for a Pixar film. The pterodactyl villains and the family of T-Rexes almost ruined the movie for me. Plus, it doesn't make any sense why Pixar made the dinosaurs look overly cartoonish when the backgrounds look ultra photo-realistic. But overall, I still liked the movie. I'd give it a 6.5/10.

I wondered the exact same thing. Who at Lions Gate saw this and thought "THIS NEEDS TO BE IN THEATERS"?

If it was leeching off the popularity of some other arctic-themed release (like, say, 'Happy Feet' or something) I would understand, but there's no films like that out right now. Or maybe they just wanted to throw a kiddie flick out there because there's currently none in release, outside of 'Alvin & the Chipmunks Part 27' (or whatever it is).

This looks like $5 bargain bin material.
