Question about the psychic lady SPOILERS....

Sorry, can't remember her name, Elaine? The woman they called, the one who Josh's mom knew from previous experience. Anyway, my question is this: I just saw the movie, but I must have missed the explanation of this. Why does she put that snorkel looking mask on with the tube one the end which covers her face (eyes and mouth)? I get that she is whispering through it to the guy next to her, who can hear her through the headphones and is writing what she is saying. Is that just how they set it up, so she is focused and her voice is amplified so that he can hear her? I just didn't really notice a detailed explanation of this setup other than that she would speak, he would write.

Since we're talking about that scene, what happened to cause Dalton to appear (with the demon inside him)? I sort of got it, but I didn't think it was as clear as the scene at the end when Josh and Dalton return.

Your question about Elise has come up on other threads. She's a psychic, but appears to approach her work from a scientific angle (with her associates and assorted paraphernalia), rather than faith/religion being involved. My take was that she used the gas mask, to bypass any interferences with her breathing and allow her to focus and concentrate on bridging between the real and "Further" worlds. This caused a reaction from the demon, who using Dalton's body, decided to create a bit of havoc for the group.🐭
