The ghost was in his dad's childhood photos which led the mom to seek Elise's help? So why was this not the case for Dalton? Was this addressed?

I don't think it was addressed, but it was a different demon, so maybe it used different tactics?
shareI think the ghost show up in Josh's picture because its the spirit energy of a once living person who is trying to cross over.So it would leave a trace of its image from when it was alive.But the thing after Dalton seemed to be just a demon or spirit creature who was never born on the mortal plane.

The demons had no interest in Dalton until his body became empty and thus would not be around before hand to be captured in any photos.
