Insidious is one of the only quality horror movies that has come out in the past decade besides The Conjuring. Yeah, it's unoriginal, but every horror movie is! This one has a very interesting story and has plenty of scares; it also doesn't rely on blood or gore.

I also have to disagree with the hate for the second half of the movie - it reminded me a lot of Poltergeist. I liked the whole search for the kid part. People are so critical of everything these days. If this had come out in the 80s, I guarantee it would be regarded as a classic - it is for me now.

This is probably one of my least favourite movies I've ever seen. The original parts are almost humorous they're so ridiculous, every line of dialogue is awfully written and extremely unrealistic, and it has some f the worst editing/directing I've ever seen. It actually blows my mind the same man directed the Conjuring.

The ONLY redeeming quality is that it occasionally made me jump, but that was purely because the sound effects brutally added in to embellish the jump-scare aspect.

This movie is a piece of garbage.

You can have your opinion just like you can have diarrhea..
This is the best scary movie ever. The sound, which comes through the phone at the start, I want it, I want it Now, just gives the basis for the many horror this movie compiles. the hand on the bedsheets, the demon next to the bad in the dreams, the ghost on the terrace and so on. I am 35 and I had bad dreams from this movie one month after viewing.. forget it dude, watch it again at night alone, with loud audio and pay attention to details.

That was exactly how I watched it. I am honestly baffled at to what people actually enjoyed about this movie.

Very true,
One of the best horror films in years.

no gore, no hot blonds gore porn films with teen kids getting murdered.
Just pure horror.

very scary film.

Exactly. People complain about all horror movies being blood, sex, and aimed at stupid teens (which I am one, actually). Then when a movie like this comes out, with none of that, people complain still.

What in the world do you want?

I think they want something that costs 50 million to make. Then they'd consider it to be worthy of praise.

I liked it because it wasn't chock full of CGI,I think the filmmakers had to get creative because they were on a low budget

Agreed, this movie is quite good. IMDB has mostly just shown us one very simple, unavoidable fact:

I enjoyed the film very much, much in the same way I loved the Conjuring; both are unoriginal sure, but they are still quality made horror films, and definitely better than what has come out recently.

It had the same theme as Silent Hill. I haven't seen Poltergeist so I don't know how much was borrowed. But I certainly had my eyes peeled for those first two.
