comedy? (spoilers)

nothing like a man discovering his wife may be having an affair, and then a main character nearly dying to get my funny bone. i've really enjoyed a lot of the more dramatic turns by typically comedic actors (i liked "everything must go" with will ferrell), but this was not a comedy. it was a drama, and like most dramas, it had some funny parts. just because it has jason segel and ed helms doesn't make it a comedy.

this was exactly what i was going to post 'till I saw your post ;) Was 45 minutes in and thought.. yeah Jason Segel has this funny posture but am I suppose to laugh at his mannerisms for 90 minutes? It's fine if it's not, but just label it a 'drama' or at least 'dramedy' or something :P That epic fight wasn't funny either. This movie isn't quite bizarre enough to be funny. The main character is too tragic and not in a Will Ferrell kind of way.
Recently saw 'Our idiot brother' which had its tragic moments too, but was still obviously a comedy. Hoped it would be more like that one.

Michael Scott: 'Dwight, you ignorant Slut!'

It is definitely mislabeled as a comedy. A lot of films are erroneously put into that category to attract a larger audience. The comedic actors were likely used because they could pull off the believability of these unusual characters and their personalities.

To your point, I think it wasn't "black comedy" enough for the kind of laughs a serious drama like Fargo can get. But that's okay, since it wasn't intended to be that kind of film. It's just irritating that they miscategorize these films to get us to hit "play".

If i'm not mistaken I believe everything must go was labeled as a comedy as well. I remember the trailer for this being misleading also
