Love the athletes, Hate the editing

Why do they spend so much time telling us about who is coming up (before the commercial break), and then gloss over athletes that were completing Stage 2?
Anyone who completes Stage 2 should have their entire run shown. AND why we are forced to watch the same old backstory pieces about the producers favorites when they don't even make through Stage 2 ...WHY??? Who is making these lousy editing decisions???

reply

And Drew Dreschel gets shafted again while we get to see Brent tank yet again.

reply

Actually, seeing Brent tank was my happy moment of the night, I must admit!

reply

Absolutely completely agree! If you have completed a stage, your entire run should be shown. That is a punch in the gut to those people. The editing sucks!

reply

Yeah! I can't believe we didn't get to see the full run of the guy who had the third faster time of the night at the LA qualifier. Even if he doesn't have a interesting back story, we should still get to see him run the course, start to finish.

reply

It's not the editing, it's the producers decision on what gets shown and what doesn't. It's the producers, the editing is fine.

Victory is Mine!!!

reply

I guess they don't have a sob story video for every athlete and they sure like to show those.

reply

I'm watching the show right now with friends and we're saying the same thing. Who cares about all the heartbreaking back stories? They do one and the person goes through one or two and falls but they don't show when people who go all the way make it. Ridiculous.

reply

Turns out, if the person is boring they don't get a backstory piece. I know someone who is a production assistant on the show. The contestants have to show some enthusiasm and have personality during their run otherwise they're relegated to the 'during our break' crowd.

Personally, I really don't care about any of the backstories, they're put in to generate a personal interest in the players. I just want to watch the runs.

He who fights and runs away, lives to run away again!

reply

Totally agree. I'm watching this to see people compete, not to see bios on the people who biffed out on the first obstacle.

More Wipeout, less Extreme Home Makeover.
