This makes no sense

NBC gave all the wildcards to women again. We can argue over the merits of that decision (I'm against it), but then I'm watching Stage 1 last night and a bunch of women were lumped into those "while we were away for commercials" segments where they show 3-4 contestants fail in abbreviated time. Huh? Why go out of your way to include more women (presumably to attract more viewers) and then cut their runs? NBC might as well have just given wildcards to better athletes if they never planned on showing them. So dumb.

Political correctness and diversity are more important these days than actual accomplishments. If I were one of those women who was "gifted" with a wild card, I'd be embarrassed and even angry because I'd want to earn it on my own merits.
