Sometimes the competitors' backstories are hard to listen to

Sometimes, they tend to be tragic, or nearly life-threatening. Like there was one person who had a family member dying from breast cancer, and now, there was just one who had just overcame a stroke. Am I watching American Ninja Warrior or Dr. Phil?

I really enjoy hearing the back stories, to me it makes the show better. It takes it from being a regular sport show to a heartwarming sport show.

Doesn't sound heartwarming sometimes...

It's ok if they have these sob stories and the competitor is good. The problem is that there was a lot of competitors who just flat out suck and they waste time to show their sob story and their crappy runs over someone who's actually good at the course but doesn't have as good of a human story to them.

True...

Doesn't your remote control have a mute or fast forward button?

I don't watch on DVR.

The backstories should come when they've gotten further into the competition when we've seen them run a few times.

Exactly.

I just fast forward past every back story. I have zero interest. Two and sometimes three thirty second skips are all that's needed to get to the run and not the "inspiring story" I give no effs about. It cuts a two hour show down to like 30-40 minutes by skipping commercials too.

I agree, it really drags the show down.
