So why were the three good fairies allowed to the princess' christening?
Weren't the humans and the moors still enemies?

shareThe script didn't address it at all. If the fairies had been the heroines of the original film, it would be because they wanted to make peace with the humans, and use their powers for good.
I bet you ten bucks that there was a scene explaining their separation from the rest of the fairies in an earlier draft of the script, but since the final version was a star vehicle for the leading actress and all the other characters had to look weak or stupid, that was cut. But yes, they don't seem to represent the other fairies and certainly don't represent Maleficent the lead fairy, they seem to be acting on their own. For reasons that the script never bothers to explain.
“Seventy-seven courses and a regicide, never a wedding like it!

Thanks so much for your informative reply. Though to be honest, my respect for this film and all its drafts just dropped to a new low.
shareHey, somebody owes me ten bucks!
Thank you for the informative post, interesting to know.

Actually it is well explained in the movie. The voiceover says the fairies were seeking to bring peace between the kingdoms so they approach the ceremony in that spirit. You can see the king is gesturing as if he will throw them out or have them withheld, but the queen convinces him otherwise.
"I am like Cryptonite for men. Cryptonite dipped in cellulite."
You can see the king is gesturing as if he will throw them out or have them withheld, but the queen convinces him otherwise. You couldn't see it in the theatre, only on the DVD - the scene was deleted.
Because Linda Woolverton couldn't write if her life depended on it.
shareIn fact, she can. Her screenplay addresses it, it's not her fault that the scene was deleted.
shareDoesn't matter. It doesn't change the fact that she took a very iconic character and altered her beyond recognition for the sake of it. Her original screenplay sucked just as badly if not worse; I know because I read that too. Barely anything was changed. Maleficent still never turns evil, she still becomes the princess's "fairy godmother", everyone is still taken out of character (Stefan becoming a one-dimensional villain and the three fairies the unfunny Jar Jar Binks Three Stooge wannabes), and Maleficent never turns into the dragon. Movie still sucks balls no matter what they cut or didn't cut; probably would have been worse if they kept the whole script intact!
shareI'm late to this but I agree with you.. Worst movie. Worst Disney movie.
shareYou could look at their presence as their attempt at fostering goodwill between the fairies and the humans.
shareFairies are not suppose to be at a christening. They are not Christian and are pagan. That was no christening but a pagan rite that is similar. I hate this movie. It took everything away from the original story Im not against feminism but these fairytales are not sexist but were based off of old folktales where people encoutered supernatural beings.
