Curse? (and cheeks)

So that whole production when she renounces the curse over and over. Clearly it didnt work. Were we supposed to know it at the time? I thought to myself welp I guess thats it. no sleeping beauty in this version. she doesnt seem to say or do anything that makes it clear the renouncing didnt work. And you only pick it up by the story continuing as if shes still in danger. Did I miss something that made it clear right away that it hadnt worked?

Also... were those REALLY Angelina Jolie's REAL cheek bones?? I mean I know shes an angular woman but good grief! Were those enhanced somehow? they seemed ridiculous and Ive never seen them quite so angular in any other of her movies.

At the end of that scene you can hear whispers of "no power on Earth can change it" but I don't know if it was that clear because I was watching it with the captions on.

Also, would the fairies not hear her?

Likewise - I watched the movie tonight with subtitles on, and that made it more clear. There were whispers of "The spell will last forever" "No power on earth can end it" etc etc (not the exact words but something to that effect). So that made it obvious that the spell had not been broken. But I did think at the time that if I didn't happen to have the subtitles on, I would never have noticed that. The whispers are way too faint.

Not only that but her golden (good) magic was pushing against the evil (green) magic and, in the end, the green magic pushed back completely and was seen seeping back into Aurora.

Originally when Maleficent casts the curse, she says "No power on Earth can change it." However at a later time, when she tries to revoke it (she'd apparently forgotten what she originally said), it reminds her of what she said, and she sadly realizes her folly.

I think it is a tradition that magic workers cannot undo their own magic. Good job that she had left a proviso in her original spell even though she didn't know how it would work out.
