But I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by this movie! It was interesting to see a new spin on this classic tale, and one of my favorite movies as a child. I'm not big on Angelina Jolie either, but I thought she was just perfect for this role! The scene where she wakes up to find that her wings have been cut off gave me chills. My one complaint has to do with the fairies. I found them to be a tad irritating. Other than that, I really enjoyed this. :)

Yeah same here! The only thing I didn't like was King Stefan, I thought he was bland as hell 

Have you seen Jungle Book? Another great live action remake IMO

Loved the fairies in the Disney animated movie, but they were awful in this.

I agree that the fairies were annoying in Maleficent.

Same here, I actually loved this new version! In the original animated "Sleeping Beauty" Maleficent is evil for no real reason at all, making her totally one-dimensional and irredeemable. Not only does this movie give her an actual backstory, but Maleficent comes to regret her deeds and makes up for it. The Maleficent character in the original I loathe with a passion, but Angelina Jolie's version...completely different. LOL
