shareBut how are you defining ruined? A movie that earned over 750 million at the box office certainly isn't ruined financially - the movie was a smash hit.
The mixed reviews of the film by both audiences and critics is another matter entirely. If anything hurt the movie it was its failure to meet audience expectations, not the audiences' expectations themselves.
The storyline was presented in promos as an alternate take on the story, but in my opinion it was too drastic a revisionist version of the original animated feature, which is not what many viewers were expecting.

I look forward to the sequel with Angelina Jolie in it. Her Maleficent image has fast become iconic.
