Could have been wayyy better than PA..if...

OK I watched this after really liking PA a lot. This movie was a little grittier than PA and it had a harsher tone than PA IMO. The story line was a good diversion from PA with the writing to the spirits angle and all that. I thought they were taking it in a good direction that way. They started it off really well and then when there was a scene that started the downward spiral. When the footprints were on the ceiling I am thinking "that's a good move" then we he follows them and he goes to the fireplace the first though that cam to my mind was "Holy s**t , Santa has gone demon and is terrorizing this family. I just think like that so I didn't take that too serious and I was glad to see the urn turned upside down and the picture smashed, it made it look like it could be the dad and he was pissed about something or it was something that got there by mistake. When the girls went to the hotel and came back with the story about Sam getting pulled out of the bed onto the floor I got a little aggravated, I mean they already saved some money on the one scene in her room where they closed the door to the camera and she screamed her head off. I mean PA cost what like 15K to make, they could have tried to do something with special effects to set it apart from PA. If the paranormal dude would have tried to leave after dry humping the walls in her room , I think I might have turned it off.

I think this could have really been better than PA if they tried a little harder to scare you, the sister could have killed the whole family being possessed and I would have bought it. I thought she sold the creepiness well. I know the film company that made it has a track record of making remakes before the original movies have their weekend grosses in but I really think they could have made a scary movie that could have been better than PA if they would have paid a little more attention to detail. I look at what they could have done when I see a movie like this and they missed the boat on what could have been a really good midnight movie.

You are totally right. To bad you will probably not read this since it's about 6 mos after your original post. But, anyway it is sad that so many gaping plot holes were left in. I would however, vote for the mother to be the killer. She seems so nice and the sister obviously already seems possessed so it would be a good twist to have the nice character to turn out to be the one that is bat *beep* crazy. Still, have to wonder how she got the foot prints on the ceiling. I guess they would have either leave the footprints out or show something to give a clue as to how she did that. Anywho, could have at least been a decent movie as it is it's on my list as I quest to find the worst movie ever made.
