really bad acting

the concept of this movie was sound, and even the pace and direction was ok, but the acting really left alot to be desired. I understand that it is supposed to appear to be a home movie, but that should mean the acting would feel natural and not forced.

I didn't think the acting was bad at all as a rule. The mom was very very convincing to me, the daughter did well but her crying scenes need work. The son was OK, his yelling scenes were chilling. He wasn't perfect, but I thought he did well too.

Have you guys lost your mind! The acting in PE is dreadful, sister pretty bad and the Mom is dreadful! The acting in PA is so much better.

j-cameron22, don't pay attention to what these wankers say. These guys are shills. Most likely paid-off by the producers of PE to knock down Paranormal Activity in order to stir up a positive buzz about their crappy RIP-OFF production. It's a common practice among hack producers like these guys. They ALL ought to be ashamed of themselves. But in the end, all it's really about is money. Sad but true.

I wish I was paid to write my opinion on here lol!

I've only seen PE once, and PA twice and its been awhile. But I do seem to recall enjoying PE a lot more then PA. PA the 2nd time around was decent, but I felt PE had more spooks that actually delivered then PA.

If you think the acting in this is bad, you really should check out the streaming movies on Netflix. They are much worse.

Really? I thought the mom was terrible. But, yes, the script was very bad and the acting didn't help it much. Parts of it were decent, but overall....it needed some help.

At one point, the mother almost mentions the Doctors name as "Finley" before realising her error and switching to the correct name. Strangely, they didnt re shoot it.

reply

I noticed that too. I thought the acting was pretty bad, but I still enjoyed the movie, it gave me a few good scares and that was the purpose. I thought PA was a better film, but I enjoyed both.

reply

i agree. i thought the acting was horrible in this one. i thought the acting in paranormal activity was good. they were believable. in this one the daughter was SO ANNOYING, her "scared" look was so bad. and the crying was dreadful. the mother wasnt much better but it could pass as believable. same with the son.

but i also hav to say this one scared me alot more then paranormal activity did.

horrible acting, it seemed like there was no real script, and it was improvised, to try and seem realistic, but it was so forced and unnatural. these actors should be ashamed. the dialogue was contrived and forced and sounded more like they added the lines while watching the play back, as opposed to how someone would actually react in that situation if they were in it.

hold on, I wanna see where these footprints go...

and not forced.

I like the mockumentary style of acting in this movie way better than the extremely annoying forced lines in Paranormal Activity.

**The sisters 'acting' was dull. I liked PA because you could see Katie slowing dwindling away each the demon made his presence known. I'm not saying she deserved an Oscar or anything but I gotta give her credit. Plus... I like my ladies to be curvaceous. I'd take Katie and her bewbs over Samantha any day.

**The brothers hysterical shrieking when he saw his moms bloody wrists ~OMG SOMEONE HEEELP MEEE~ --dude, call 911? I was loling.
In general, he tried to be the typical douchey guy but Micah wins so hard.
His cruelty towards Katie was actually quite entertaining.

**The mom was basically the better actor between the three.

Seriously, I thought Paranormal Activity needed some work...but after watching this, I feel like it should win an Oscar! Aside from the horrible acting...it didn't develop the story or explain anything the way PA tries to. If you're going to obviously rip off a movie, at least try to make it as good as the original.

I kept waiting for the scary part. I'm still waiting for it, and I finished the movie last week. I guess there isn't one. It was a pretty crap movie, all around. I don't think the acting was necessarily bad, (except the son's constant irritating shrieking) there was just no action, nothing scary, nothing happening. And it drove me nuts that we never did get to see the dude operating the camera.

reply

You are insane if you say the acting was good. ESPECIALLY the mother and daughter. They were god awful. The mother had to be the worst actress I'd ever seen. Everything was forced and they tried to have dramatic pauses that turned into the awkward stumbling over lines.

reply

Yes the acting was really bad, but I didn't think the pacing was right either, they had nowhere to fall from, right from the start the cast were nervous, while they should have been happy happy carefree, and then everything would have been a real shock. Them being anxious from the start doesn't create the same sense of dread for the audience.

I don't really know though, I turned this piece of crap of after 30 minutes.
