not bad, but...

OK, so it's no secret that this is a rip off/copycat/borrowed idea/revamp/call-it-what-will of Paranormal Activity.

That being said, this movie wasn't bad, but I wouldn't really call it good. I checked it out on Netflix, and yes, I knew what I was getting into.

***SPOILERS***

There were some decent story attempts, the German folklore thing, as opposed to Paranormal Activities concept of "repaying a demon", the idea of the mother writing to her deceased husband (no plot spoiler there, we knew early on he wasn't around), and the answering machine (which they could've gone a little more into).

Then there's the down side. Just some pretty bad acting. The night after they see footprints on the ceiling, the guy sets up jingle bell trip lines near the floor. An interesting thng to consider is, the mother and sister had gone to a hotel or something that night, and they call freaking out saying it followed them there. However, at the same time, the guy has his jingle bell traps going off and furniture getting pushed around...so, two ghost/demon/spooky guys?

Again, overall, it wasn't really bad, just not that good. Had it come out before PA, it might have bee different, but Asylum is mostly known for borrowed ideas.

Yeah, I watched it last night on Netflix. It could have been executed better. There were a few creepy parts, if one has an imagination. Overall, not bad.

I though the acting done by the mother was poor. I wish the psychic would have a few more minutes to perform.

As for the oversight in the chronology of events, there is no excuse. I am certain that any director would view the the final cut and realize the error. Lazy.

I thought this movie was pretty good, not as good as PA but definitely better than a 4.3.

I'm not reading your manifesto, keep your damn posts short!

I liked this movie a lot. I didn't expect to, given its a 'confessed ripoff' of PA. But to be honest, while there were a few similarities to that film it really seemed to try for its own plot.
The demon footprints on the ceiling were genius, as was the calling of "Thomas!" later on.
Yes, that goof was kind of irritating and the goof near the end (Samantha) was odd too. I am quite surprised they missed two enormous Goofs like that. The ending is a little rushed too.
But otherwise I really liked it, it had a lot more 'activity' than PA.
I thought the mother acted just fine. They all did, in fact.

I don't think the incidents happened at exactly the same time. I think we're to assume the demon appeared at the house, then at the hotel, then back at the house.
It was probably playing games with them by doing this.
