Actually alot scarier than paranormal activity

ok so the actors were not great, but this actually scared me a lot more than paranormal activity! And plus you didn't have the annoying voices of the couple either. There were way more scarier going on's in this one. I liked both for what they were, but have to say this one slightly done more for me on creepiness.

addicted to Glee right now

Jennifer's body was awesome!

I really enjoyed both, but if i had to pick i would choose this one. Especially where the paranormal investigator was concerned. He came across as a lot more convincing and educated in entity.

i agree as well, i thought this was pretty darn frightening. way more happened in this one than PA

I just watched it, and as much as I like "PA" I must say this is scarier in a way!
Has a lot more action also. The mom acted very well I thought, the daughter did respectfully (how about those evil looks ), but her crying scenes need work.
The never-seen son did well enough, his yells were convincing too. Why did they NEVER show him though??

I didn't care for the rushed ending, but then "PA" had that too. This was a much scarier and better quality film than I thought it would be!

I preferred this to Paranormal Activity. Activity was a good movie, but was way below the level of hype attached.

Didn't expect much from this as it is an Asylum mockbuster, but I was pleasantly surprised.

You can't palm off a second-rater on me. You gotta remember I was in the pink!

I think all of you are crazy. While Activity was a low budget and independent flick, entity is a weaker and more insubstantial ripoff. Entity had a lower budget and it shows.

Two people commented that this movie had more "action"? Are you all smoking something? Did I miss something? Are we even watching the same movie?

Activity had a higher budget and contained a number of scenes that Entity just can't compete with I think. In Activity, aside from doors opening and closing by themselves which wasn't interesting, you had the Ouija board scene which was great, the footsteps in the powder, Katie being dragged out of the bed, and in the theatrical release Micah being thrown into the camera. All of these scenes happened on screen and were much more interesting than anything Entity had to offer.

On the flip side of the coin the majority of the scenes in Entity happened off screen, and the few random scenes that you actually did see on screen simply weren't that interesting. A TV turning on by itself simply isn't intriguing enough and not convincing of anything paranormal simply because all you need is a crew member with a remote control off screen. As a unique idea as the footprints on the ceiling was, it still happened off screen. The paranormal investigator being killed? Off screen. In fact the only interesting scene that did happen on screen was the chair moving and the bells on the wire, but even that wasn't great and still couldn't compare with the Ouija board or Katie being dragged out of the bed in Activity.

Not to mention Entity even failed on a technical level as well especially with the bedspread scene. The scene started well enough as the bedspread was slowly being pulled off the bed by an invisible force until I could see a crew member's hand pulling the wire attached to the bedspread. Yep, at 1:01:42, you can see the crew member's hand in the lower left hand corner of the frame. I wasn't even looking for an error, I was just trying to get into the movie when I caught a distracting motion from the corner of my eye and I caught it the first time around too. I said, "What is that?" I rewound the scene and sure enough I saw the brief motion of the hand. I then said, "well that's a real obvious f*&k up. Nice." I knew this movie, like activity, was fake, but actually seeing how fake it was on screen just killed the atmosphere for me and I couldn't get into it from that point on anymore. The ending was also a blaring contradiction. He runs into the room and she's covered with blood so he puts the camera down to go help her and when he picks the camera up all the blood is mysteriously gone off of her body. I mean seriously, WTF?

That's another thing I can say in favor of Activity. Not only did it have superior scenes, more of them, and all of which actually happened on screen, but at least there wasn't blatant technical screwups like with the hand accidentally being caught on film as in Entity.

The only logical reason I can come up with that people prefer Entity is because of the nudity. It fails on every other level in comparison to Activity.

At least this movie gave us some nudity unlike "PA". That Samantha chick had a nice set of t*ts.

Samantha was attractive enough but she had breast implants. Yuk.

I actually agree that this Asylum rip-off was scarier than Activity.....and I can't believe I said that. Plus it had beeoobs!

I thought it was alot scarier too. The funny thing is, the scene that scared me the most, was the scene where he went into the basement, to discover all the foot prints came from the ash in his father's cremation urn! That was so messed up. Gave me chicken skin. I really like PA, and I was really skeptic when I started watching this, but, I'm glad I watched it all the way through. Good flick, if you ask me.
Cheers.

The guy that said Activity is better is crazy. I don't remember that much more happening 'onscreen', which he seems to be so infatuated with, and even if there was more, that's not all that makes a movie scary. Not to mention the acting was better, and the plot had more substance.

reply

The only thing that happens on-screen in Entity is the chair and bell, and the covers being pulled off. Oh wait, the tv and light flickers! Oh my god!

I can't fathom how anyone can say that ANYTHING in Entity can compare to that bitch being YANKED off the bed and DRAGGED down the hall.

..............well....................did we mention the beoobs?

The thing about Entity was that the scares had no payoff. It was suspensful but at no point was I actually startled. I kept waiting for something to maybe jump into frame when he went outside, but no, he just walks back inside and finds his sister just standing in the attic. Nothing scary about that. The scene where his mom was standing in the room was almost almost unintentionally funny. Plus the ending was very very rushed, it's like they ran out of money and had to sum it up quickly. Overall though it was decent, not horrible my any means, well not for most the movie, so I gave it a decent 2.5/5 compared to 3.5/5 vs PA. Activity did actually make me jump and actually had real scares, not just suspense.
