I thought it had some good scares!

Yes, it's kinda the same as "Paranormal Activity", but different, as well. I thought it had some good scares! Who cares if a movie doesn't make sense? If it's creepy, and disturbs you a bit, then it's served it's purpose. There's nothing in moviedom like supernatural horror movies. There does need to be one made someday that will be rated 'X', but there will be nothing sexual about it. It will be that scary that an "R" rating will not suffice. I'm waiting for it!!

I thought this movie was VERY scary, agreed!

I wonder why people criticize it, it was an authorized 'ripoff' of "PA"!
The people who made it do this, its ALL they do.

In fact, as scary as the original "PA" was, this one was almost more frightening.
That whole 'urn' thing was chilling & original. It did have a terrible ending though.

I like the fact that you find out WHY the paranormal events are happening, that the mother was writing to who she thought was her dead husband, but somehow, a demon got involved. I wish they would have made a prequel, to go a bit deeper on HOW the demon got involved. Did she use a ouija board after he passed away? Did she have a seance? Did she consult a medium? Anyway, it was quite a thrill to watch this movie!

She was doing what's called Automatic Writing. Its used for more than one purpose, but in the 'supernatural' sense its used to try to speak to the dead.
But what's weird is this technique is often used as a method of psychotherapy!
They tell people to just sit down & write. Don't think about what you're writing, just write. And theoretically things you didn't even know were 'in your head' will start to come out on paper, and supposedly make you feel better and resolve issues.

I thought this an odd 'reason' given for demonic possession though.
I know they were trying for a different *mode* of inviting the evil in, but seriously this seemed strange.
