the needle itself is the safest part. Stainless steel -heated upon reuse - exposed to air, and with minimum dead volume. The major potential contimated fluid remains inside the syringe wall.
With glass syringes it isn't such a far stretch to imagine that even the most f* up junkie could quickly heat the syringe up, thus lowering the number of potentially infectious microorganisms.
Regardless, It was laughable when he said "these" needles could potentially save millions, as if this could help the third world.
