Is there anything Chris Evans can't do ? you can star him in anything and the movie will be a success, he is turning into a little Brad Pitt. He is obviously not even there yet but the potential is definitely there
I won't go that far yet, but he has been noted to be in terrible movies, and he still can shine through, so there is something about him that people like.
I would really, really like it if there was a movie with him and Ryan Gosling in it. Maybe even throw in James Franco. They are like the hottest things right now.
Yeah I am not saying he is even close to Brad Pit yet, I am just saying he has that swag about him that people love to watch and it makes the movie better, like Brad Pitt. I agree with you 100 percent that Ryan Gosling and him should star in a movie, or James Franco, or even Joseph Gordon Levit. They are the new crop of movie Stars !
I disagree, merrick. He's done comedy, drama (even melodrama), sci-fi and comic heroes. Even when the movies haven't been well received, the general consensus is "...but Chris Evans did a good job..." and is often considered the standout performance.
For someone just hitting 30, I'd say the only way is up. He's had some time (and variety now) to hone his trade, and he's definitely been on top of it.
I saw this movie for the first time right after seeing another Evans movie, first time for that one too. The first was a rom-com and this is a heavy drama. Totally different movies and roles and Evans' performances in both showed that difference. And he did a great job in both. He's real good.
I also thought this was his best work to date as well. I'm a fan of his as the action hero - and notably his purposeful over the top role in Scott Pilgrim. But he really shone in this film I thought. Guy hasn't put a foot wrong yet in any movies I have seen him in.
I never thought that the airhead from Not Another Teen Movie, the flame on douchebag from Fantastic 4, the non-flame on douchebag from Scott Pilgrim, and the great, noble, self-sacrificing hero (and all around non-douchebag) Captain America is the same guy who played a burned out, shagged up, drugged up lawyer.
Maybe he's going through the Gary Oldman route. Except Evans is ripped, so he gets the Brad Pitt roles too.
Now I understand why he didn't want to play Capt. America at first. He wanted to keep a low profile. Well, he's lucky, because comic book movies are actually written with more care now than ever before. Looks like we're living in an era where Joel Schumacher type of sh*T comic book movies are now a big no-no...

Favorite part: right before he dies when Mike tells off Price. It was so hot (in other words - powerful) and he wasn't even shirtless!

Give him a well written drama, and i'm sure he'll nail it "forest gump" style. After seing him in this movie, i was convinced that he has great acting-potential, maybe he just needs a better manager or start fighting for the big parts.
Remember.. Tom Hanks was a "nobody" actor until big dramas like "Philadelphia" and "Forest Gump" dropped into his lap. Now he's considered to be one of the great stars.
