Box office was only $68,945? WTF?

Such it's not going to win best picture but how this movie make so little? It opened in 2 cinemas?

I don't understand that either. I thought this was a great movie. The studio was smart to release it after the success of Captain America...but not just seven days before another Chris Evans movie (What's Your Number). The latter had the added bonus of a name co-star in Anna Faris and was SO much lighter, something audiences would drift towards more than a drug-addicted lawyer. The studio should maybe have waited until November to release this and put out ads for Academy Award consideration. Highly doubtful that Evans would have been nominated for best actor, but they could have done this as a publicity ploy. The studio did an epic fail in promotion of this fine movie.

It probably had something to do with marketing. I don't remember commercials or any type of promotion for it.

Those same healthcare profiteers threatened lawsuits and leveraged relationships to make this movie go away.

They didn't want you to see it.
Even with the legislation in-place most hospitals do not use. This is still an epidemic level problem.

There have been some awfully weird accidental deaths surrounding this case(s). Google it.

It’s an indy film, not a Marvel sequel.
It opened in five theaters.
That’s what you get in 2011 — and probably less than that today.

No one goes to the theater much anymore to see indy films. They play in theaters only to qualify for awards. I was dying to see this when it first came out, but couldn’t. And then I forgot all about it for eight years until it showed up on Prime.

Movies are a crowded landscape today.
It’s almost impossible for even a good one to get any traction.
