How safe was the safety syringe?

I have nothing to do with the medical world, but it really looked un-safe to me how the needle jumps out of the syringe after use.... it might as easily have been a weapon to stick to another person's arm....
I don't know, it just baffled me how it worked. Does anyone have a clue?
What about the real life one? Does it work the same way? Never seen one!

Um...The needle jumps back INTO the needle not out of it...It RETRACTS inside the safety needle after the plunger is depressed.
Hope this helps

Three months ago I had major surgery. A couple of times I had nurses use a safety needle on me. More often than not, they used a regular needle.
Now I have heard about the safety safety needle, prior to my going into the hospital for surgery. I very much like the idea of a safety needle . I think it is a very good way to prevent accidents of nurses being pricked by needles tremendously. I am all for and 100% for the use of this needle in hospitals. I think, in my heart, that any hospital that does NOT choose to use a needle with these features is doing serious damage to their medical staff.
I was lucky, or unlucky, to be a guinea pig for a brand-new nursing intern who was trying to learn how to use one of the safety needles. I volunteered to be the "guinea pig", cause I know how very important it is for these young people, who really want to be good in their nursing, to learn just how important it is to be able to use a needle safely. There seem to be far too many accidental needlesticks ,even now, when such a wonderful tool is available. Greedy conglomerates and people who are simply waiting to make money, refused to approve the use of this type of safety precaution...simply because the insurance companies will lose money, the conglomerates will lose money, the headquarters of Headquarters will lose money... all the major capitalists will lose money simply because there is a special needle that will keep medical staff and patients safe from all kinds of infection. Oh my, I'm so sorry for the rant. I just really believe that there possibly was a murder and the cover-up . This was a true story after all. I really feel quite sick at the thought that there ARE people in the capitalistic world who will put aside a human life just for the almighty dollar. It really does make me feel quite sick.
I'm so sorry.
