Wow, heavy!

I REALLY wish I had watched the trailer for this film before renting it. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't that I didn't enjoy it per se--the subject matter was just a LOT darker, heavier than I had anticipated. I read a brief summary online and when I realized it was starring Kat Dennings (whom I have enjoyed in other movies), I quickly requested it from Netflix. For some reason I suppose I thought it would be a little lighter fare. You know, a light-hearted, witty, new-kid-in-town-misunderstood-by-the-natives coming of age story. Well, the depressing death of one of the main character's friends, the menacing threat of the serial killer, and the rampant drug use by the teenagers was a little more than I signed on for on a Sunday afternoon, LOL! It was enjoyable, I'll just have to be more careful to hunt for trailers before I go adding movies to my queue next time!
