How old is Caroline supposed to be in the film?

How old is Caroline supposed to be in the film? At some point she says the age difference is only two years between her and the teacher so what that makes her 30 or something? Or is she supposed to be around 17 like normal in the movie?

It says on the back of the case that she is 17 years old.

The quote was that the age difference was only two years more than the difference between her mother and father.
