Disable individual boards

I wonder why they (the mods) couldn't just disable the boards that were out of control? If they can suspend individual accounts, why not individual boards that were consistently violating the rules?

Removing/blocking the message board feature from troublesome boards I think would have been a better solution instead of punishing all the boards. I'm not saying our board was free from drama. I just don't think it will benefit this site to remove a feature that many come to for peer reviews, questions, and community based on a shared interest.

You don't have to attend every argument you are invited to.

its easier to just get rid of them all instead of monitoring and seeing whats causing problems and whe nyou shut down one board the problem starters tend to just migrate to similar boards.

what they mostly want is a place for people to see movie trailers as thats where they make their dosh, and they arent lying when they say most of the views they get come from social media, so keeping the forums open isn't financially great for them. it certainly sucks, it was one of the last graet forums, they're dying in general in favor of broader social media. reddit, 4chan and imdb were the biggest ones i know.

Honestly I think the moderators are lazy or got tired of deleting accounts. There were so many trolls and people posting illegal download links on a regular basis. The GIlmore Girls board was perfect until a couple of months ago then these trolls came out of nowhere. I wish they would just disable the walking dead board and game of thrones board because those are the worst on IMDB.

I agree. It would make more sense to disable message boards that are out of control instead.

Like Perfect said, this have all gotten to the point where the mods are too lazy to be deleting every troll, sock, and spam accounts. So they just want to disable that part of the community entirely.

I could be totally wrong on this but I honestly don't think there are any "mods". I think it's a system/program that does all the work. When comments get a certain amount of reports, the system/program automatically deletes them.

I think IMDb's reasons for deleted the forums are incredibly stupid. Thousands and thousands of people post here and many, including myself, have met and made good friends here.

A lot of people are petitioning, though. There's always the possibility of IMDb enabling them in the future, again. Hopefully...

Hope changes everything.

there is SOME moderation as if you report people for no reason you will get a notification saying that report buttons arent meant to be used for personal vendettas / arguments.
