Entertaining, but Indulgent

I chuckled a few times throughout this film and thought it was reasonably entertaining, but came away from it with reservations, the main one being that the male characters aren't exactly portrayed in a positive light. Then, like I always do, I read up on it after the fact and discovered that Lena Dunham cast her rich artist mother in the role of Aura's mother, and filmed it almost entirely in her rich mother's multi-million dollar pad. It's not exactly the guerilla, "pick yourself up by your bootstraps" indie filmmaking that it purports to be. Lena Dunham is a particularly witty, thoughtful rich kid, but she's not a brilliant writer or director. This film is self-indulgent and insular, and not nearly as self-aware as it should be.
