Aura's mom...angry because she's NOT having sex with her guest..??

Seriously....what parent would be annoyed that their child.....whether a female or male....wasn't having sex with their houseguest?! 

There was a lot off-kilter and annoying about this film....but honestly, even a liberal downtown artist parent would never be annoyed by their child not having sex with a friend who is staying over a few days. What a ridiculous conversation re AK's character staying over at the mom's loft.

Aura's mother was as odd as she was. The teen sister seemed the most normal of the bunch, I enjoyed when she was screaming at Aura when she was walking around in her underwear in front of her sister's friends.

Lol obviously you misread her intentions.. She wasn't mad that she wasn't having sex with him.. It was more like a "why are we housing and feeding this young man when he's not even a romantic interest of yours".. Meaning that if he was Auras boyfriend or love interest she would be more ok with the free loading. That's how I took it anyway.. And I'm pretty sure that's what she meant to convey

^^But still....what kind of mother would say something like that? Basically telling her daughter, You're not sleeping with him, so why bother?

I mean, she's basically saying she would rather her daughter be sleeping with him.

I have a feeling Ms. Simmons wasn't actually acting in this movie....her parenting skills are probably that lackadaisical in real life. Which is scary.

The ratio of people to cake is too big.

No, you're not understanding what I mean.. She's not saying "hey, i want you to sleep with this guy so I can feel better about the fact that he's living under my roof and eating our food" Auras mom was implying " Hey, this boy isn't a romantic interest of yours.. Why are we housing and feeding him??" Basically meaning, he can GTFO if Aura has no intention of pursuing a relationship with him.. It wasn't meant as a push to get her to have sex with him, it was a push to get her to make him leave. I actually found their (aura and her mom) relationship to be very open about sex, which is a good thing. It makes it easier for a daughter to be able to discuss and ask questions about sex.. And building a trusting friendship between parent and child is essential to a healthy family dynamic. Teenagers have and always will be experimenting with sex. It's better that a mother knows and can talk about it than have her daughter hiding it,feeling shame or guilt, or worse, continuing through life uneducated on the subject.
